About me and this site

Describing oneself is often a difficult thing. So I'll just tell you what I do. I have been working as a sports journalist since 2005, specifically as a supervisor and online editor in live football. Furthermore, I have been working in the management of a former professional footballer for about two years and since 2016 I have been part of the online team of SMILER, the worldwide Rod Stewart fan club founded in 1981.

I've been living in Mallorca for about four years now, fulfilling a childhood dream. When I was a little boy on holiday in Belgium, I had already made up my mind that one day I would live by the sea. That has now come true.
Since the very early 1980s, I can also call myself a Rod Stewart fan. It all started with buying the album Foolish Behaviour in a small record shop in my hometown. In 1986 I saw Rod live on stage for the first time, 54 more concerts have been added until today. Number 55 I attended in July 2023 at the WiZink Center in Madrid, at the age of 55. If that doesn't fit. I have a little four-legged black lady called Polly who is a pastor-mallorquin mix. She will accompany me to Germany next year and will be looked after by kind dog sitters during the concerts in the hotels. Maybe "Uncle Rod" will have a treat or two in his luggage when he comes to Germany. The little lady would be delighted to meet her uncle in person, who is on the walls of our flat in many pictures. The announcement of the German tour for summer 2024 made me decide to report on these - probably last - Rod Stewart concerts in Germany. For many years now, the idea of writing a blog about Rod Stewart has been in my mind, and what better occasion than a tour in Germany, almost 40 years after my first concert in Düsseldorf. If not now, then when, I thought to myself. The result is this website, which I will edit partly journalistically and partly with a fan's eye view. Next year I will set up a live ticker or live blog for the respective shows, and if everything works out, we can look forward to a very special highlight next year. But more about that when the time comes. I hope you enjoy browsing through this homepage. I am always open to suggestions and constructive criticism. So please write me messages if you have something to say.
